If your child attends PS 281, then you are part of the PS 281 Parent-Teacher Association! The PTA’s main responsibilities are to build community in the school and provide supplementary resources necessary to ensure our children’s success. The PTA organizes many events such as the Thanksgiving Potluck, Valentine’s Dance, Spring Benefit, and International Night. The PTA also provides in-class enrichment programs for every child to supplement the school curriculum.

PTA Executive Board 2023-2024
Every family member and teacher (and the principal!) is part of the PTA. But we have a dedicated team of parents/guardians who have been elected to handle the legal, financial, and administrative duties. You can reach the Executive Board anytime by emailing pta@ps281.org.

PTA Meetings
Your participation in the general PTA meetings and volunteer efforts are crucial to foster a strong school community. PS 281 is a family and we invite all family members (parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and more) to get involved!
The PTA holds General meetings on the third Wednesday of every month (with some exceptions for holidays, etc.), alternating between evening and morning meetings. Please see the Calendar for up-to-date meeting information. At these general meetings, we discuss school business, upcoming events and activities, as well as hear from the Principal. All parents and staff members are welcome.
The PTA also holds Executive Board meetings on the first Wednesday of every month to set the agenda, discuss fundraisers and expenditures, as well as other administrative issues for the general meetings. These Executive Board meetings are open to the public. All parents and staff members are welcome, but please note that voting is limited to Executive Board members.
